Every year the American Academy of Dermatology recognizes November as National Healthy Skin Month. Your skin health is important as it’s the largest organ in your body that protects you from infections, viruses, and environmental threats. It also helps to regulate temperature and fluids. In honor of National Healthy Skin Month, SummitMD Dermatology, shares tips for keeping and maintaining healthy, glowing skin all year long. Even with the best skincare routine, issues can still arise
Tip one: Be proactive with your skincare regime. Start using anti-aging products early, along with a daily antioxidant like vitamin C to help prevent damage that is not blocked by sunscreen. Vitamin C can also reverse the damage that skin has already accrued.
Tip two: Wear sunscreen daily. We recommend a broad-spectrum sunscreen that is at least an SPF 30. Broad-spectrum covers both UAV and UVB rays. Protecting your skin from the sun and harmful rays is the best way to prevent skin cancer and early signs of aging.
Tip three: Get annual skin checks by board-certified dermatologists. It’s always best to see a professional when you have questions or concerns about your skin.
